My new Netbook

Today was a great day.  Alex and I didn't do much except stay home.  Since he wont start school until he is 6yrs old (winter birthday) I teach him "school" in our living room. I bought him different learning books from
walmart, walgreens, and the dollar general. I like them alot because they teach him how to write, matching, connect the dot and other cool things. So that's all we did. We watched Iron Man a few times. Yeah it was a good  day for the both of us. I cant believe how much he is growing.
Frank came home after Alex and I finished dinner. He came home with a surprise for me. That hardly happens but when it does you better believe that its a good surprise. He bought me a netbook. I have been wanting one for a while now. I love it. I will post a picture in a later post because I am just getting to know my new lil purple machine. So far so good. Thanks for stopping by:)

Fun With Alex

Silly Alex and momma

Yikes---There was a spider on me while I was taking this picture.
Sometimes I find myself saying things to my son and feel like he's not really paying attention. A few days ago, we went to the grocery store and told him to pick 4 small snack size packages of chips. I wanted him to hurry up and focus on which ones he wanted so I could hurry back home and do some cleaning. I told him that we could have a picnic after the library soon and to hurry up. Tuesday morning came, which is our usual day to go to the library for story time. I had our books in the bag, he had his shoes on and back pack ready. I had my shoes on and purse in hand. Then he said," Mom don't forget about the picnic".  I'm the type of person that goes by a schedule. I feel like my day is ruined if something doesn't go as planned. I looked at his little face and remembered what I had told him at the grocery store. I had completely forgot. My Alex didn't! I put my purse down, washed my hands and made us some sandwiches. I found one of my nieces old Pocahontas lunch boxes and put our sandwiches, chips and drinks in there. I grabbed a blanket and off we were. After story time, we found a nice spot under a huge tree and spread the blanket out. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch together. I'm so glad he reminded me about our picnic. I'm also glad that I just went with the flow and enjoyed my son!
My new haircut

I was finally able to get my haircut today. I so badly wanted to grow out my hair. I wanted to be able to curl it,braid it, and just do different things with it. Unfortunately, long hair ages me. I didn't cut it as short as I usually do. I actually love this cut. It suppose to be a stacked cut,but I don't see any stackness to it. I still love it though. Note to self:" Christina, you look better with short hair". I need to go back and read this once I try to grow out my hair again:)

Tres Leches-Cake Recipe

Bake Cake as directed on box

slide a knife around sides of cake

poke holes with a straw

small can of evaporated milk-I accidentally grabbed the big can
Nestle Media Crema and Sweetened Condensed Milk

Mix the milks in a bowl

pour over on top of cake

let is settle for 30 minutes/refrigerate over night

top with whipped creme and favorite fruit-Enjoy!!
This is my most favorite cake to make. It's a very dangerous cake to have in the house. I can eat this whole cake by myself without any problems!! That is why I only make it for birthdays that are not celebrated at my house. I always bake it and take it..........and leave it.
Tres Leches which means "three milks" is so simple to make but oh so yummy and moist. I love baking cakes. I always use a box cake mix. I'm sure there are some people that prefer to use "from scratch" recipes but I prefer to use Pillsbury cake mixes. I love how they bake and the moisture of them.
To make this cake, all you need is a box of yellow cake mix, small can of evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and crema media. Nestle Crema Media can be found in the Latin foods isle. After baking the cake as directed in the box, let it rest for about 5 minutes. Gently slide a butter knife around the edges to make sure the cake is not stuck to the sides. Then take a straw and poke holes all over the cake about a 1/2 inch apart. Grab a mixing bowl and combine the three milks and slowly pour over the entire cake. After about 30 minutes cover with plastic wrap and store in refrigerator for at least 3 hours or over night. I choose to store it over night just to make sure all the milks have been absorbed. Afterwards frost with whipped creme and top with your favorite fruit. I always use strawberry's, but you can use peaches, kiwi, pineapple or all of the above.
I promise you will love this cake and so will your guest. Give it a try and let me know if you like it. If you have already made this cake but use a different recipe let me know also.

Sally Hansen Simple Spa Wax

As Seen in Allure magazine April 2011

Add caption

Wax before melted

Melted Wax-I moved the bottom to the top and top to the bottom

Wax applied to small section-No wax strips needed!!!

It pulled out a lot of hairs!!

This is what I used to do my lip--I promise I am not as hairy as Chubaka
I have been seeing a lot of ads for the Sally Hansen Simple Spa Wax Warmer Kit. I have been using a product called Moom. I bought it at Marshall's for $9.00. It came with a big roll of reusable wax strips.  I only waxed my upper lip and nothing else. Since I was the only one using waxing,I did not mind reusing the strips.  There were a few things that I liked about it. The price was great for it. The reusable strips were great too. All you had to do was rinse them with warm water and let air dry. The container was small and easy to store. The things I did not like about it was that I had to wax sometimes the beginning of the week and end of the week. I'm not Chubaka or anything but the strips sometimes would not pull all the hairs out. I also did not like having to get out of the shower then walking to the kitchen to warm the wax up. I like to have a little privacy and I would get embarrassed when Frank would see me warming up the wax. After seeing the advertisement for the Sally Hansen wax, I knew I had to have it. I searched Target and nothing. CVS and Walgreen's nothing. Finally I went to WalMart and there it was. It cost $20.00---yikes!! I could not believe I payed that. But being a one income family, I figured it would pay it self off after 2 waxes. The instructions said it takes 25 minutes to warm up after you plug it in. I don't know if it was because this was my first time using it, but mine took about 40 minutes. It did not melt completely, but i just moved it around till I was able to get to the melted part. Application was easy. The instructions stated that using talcum powder helped with making sure all the oils were off your face. I applied the wax over the powder in small sections. It really did not hurt at all. The most painful spots were in the middle section of the upper lip. That was a little painful. It removed so much more hair that the Moom wax. This wax system doesn't even require waxing strips which is awesome. All you do is apply the wax, let it cool of for a few seconds, then pull. Easy!! I love this.I think this is totally worth it. I totally like this because you can just plug it in before you shower and wax as soon as you get out. No more going to the kitchen with wax in hand:)
